Rules
Preface
Let's be clear here. Rules do not equal laws or rights. If that is what you are after you probably need the site's Terms of Use The difference between them being breaking "Rules" will more often than not get you: told off, deactivated or deleted, rather than prosecuted. Though not necessarily - Criminal Activity of any kind will be reported to the appropriate authorities! The Rules are here more so when someone does flout them (and some ass will) then I can point out the section before I take action. Like everything that's on this site, they are open to debate and suggestion. It is important all staff read these as they are given certain privileges / rights (bypass spam and moderation) and responsibilities (looking out for the community) The Rules are here to re-enforce your common sense. We all know what's right and what's wrong.
Level of Severity
Serious Infractions (Usually from 1 or 2)
Users will have their accounts deactivated and in most cases deleted if they are unable to follow these simple rules. In the most serious cases the authorities / ISP will be notified
Minor Infractions (Usually from 3 or 4)
Minor infractions may just get you a slap on the wrist or they may lose you kudos
The Rules
1. Watch your 'isms - No:
i) Sexism
ii) Racism
iii) Fascism - Apart from when what I (the site owner) says so:P
iv) Plagiarism / Copyright theft
2. Link link link
As you can see from 1.iv copying is not cool
Always credit the author / source - If possible with a link back to the official publication
You may use a small snippet "fair use" if you are commenting on something. Otherwise Link (if too big).
3. Respect thy fellow user
We all know you earn respect but I think we should assign a certain amount of respect by default. Base respect. If you cannot show this level of respect, then this place isn't for you.
We all know discussions / debates can get heated but by being abusive or insulting the discussion crumbles and with it any positivity and productivity.
Common courtesy dictates you are welcoming, helpful and friendly. OK some users can be a PITA, lazy, thoughtless etc. but that's no excuse for getting aggressive
4. No hating
No hating. I'm not talking about hating that the Wii hasn't enough storage. I'm talking about hating on people. Not just the isms. Hating full stop. A happy Wii-View UK is a productive Wii View UK.
Nothing:
i) Abusive
ii) Threatening
iii) Slanderous
iv) Obscene / Vulgar / Sexually orientated
I don't expect everyone to get along or to live in a virtual utopia but I do expect decent behaviour - We netizens are a civilised people are we not?
5. No Spamming
Spamming of any kind is not aloud unless you have permission from the site owner and the site owner creates the link.
6. No hacking
Do I really need to say this?
7. No links to software unless it's license permits
Most likely offences would be Game ROMs and ISOs - NO Game ROMs & ISOs!
8. No illegal activities
Anything illegal that's not covered in 1-7 is equally unwanted
