Frequently Asked Questions

When the Ad money is made available to me I'll make it available to you - It should be monthly but that would be dependant on the amount payable

e.g. if you had a 5% stake in May and May brought in £50 it's not really worth me transferring you £2.50 and would wait and see what happens next month. The £2.50 would of course still be yours and banked for a future date

Currently I decide the percentage based on your performance. I would in the future however be likely to take on a business partner from the team. In that case we would share that decision

No it is no way a job, not yet at least. It is a flexible way to supplement your main income - Would highly suit freelancers, students, hobbyists. If the site, for example, got a couple of large sponsors I may take on full time staff. It's a way to make some money but it's not a job i.e. you are not going to be employed by anyone. You'd be freelancing for me.

There is no benefits package obviously as there is no employment. You get nothing from me except a share of the advertising revenue. No pension, sick leave, maternity leave, redundancy etc.

Difficult to say at the moment as the site is still pretty new. It depends on a lot and as such and I can't really say a figure with any certainty. Obviously while the site is small and young there will not be much. If you already post somewhere and don't get paid surely something is better than nothing right?

I have a trade doubler account but I think the site needs some development before it will look attractive enough to their clients (e.g. play.com, cd-wow, amazon.co.uk) to accept us

Google have just launched / bought their own affiliate network so we will also soon be using that too

Ad Sharing, in this instance, is dividing the money / income amongst a group of people who contribute the most to this web site.

Until further notice, all images will have to be emailed to bobuido (site owner). There is a gallery system being built. The first iteration lacked certain functionality. The second was powerful but integrated. As such it has been decided that the gallery will be custom built with the CCK and views toolkits. Thank you all for your continued patience on this matter.

1. Request an edit
You may ask a core staff member with the appropriate permissions to edit the game node / page for you
2. Request control
You may ask a core staff member with the appropriate permissions to change authorship of the node and thus take responsibility for maintaining that page

There is a text field (Label="Staff Rating:") on the form for creating or editing a game node / page. Simply enter a number between 0-100 (%) and submit the form.

If a node is not yet rated (0%) you may give it a score without discussing it but you must create a discussion topic in the staff forum! We (staff) can discuss the rating and if necessary adjust the score to reflect the opinions of the Wii View Staff. Where people cannot come to a mutually acceptable agreement, we can average the different scores.

Because there's a limit on cck integer and decimal fields it would seem. So I've made another one that's a string / text type. You can now add you Wii number in full to your profile page (if you created one in your account)

What I still have to do is the game code fields but think I'll construct them as they're own type and relate them to the games in the DB

For now you can just put them on your profile page

Might also want to add to your signature

Please bear in mind this data is public (something else I need to work on..the private option)

Thank you for your patience

Feel free to poke me in the arm with a sharp stick if I don't get this sorted soon

This is normal. Blogs are not published by default. Someone with the appropriate permissions (owner, editor etc.) must publish the work. This may change in the future.

Yes all blogs are currently moderated. When we get more staff the queue will move quicker. Only people with the appropriate permissions should be able to publish without being moderated first. I may change this policy, it's something I'm thinking about.

Yes - These are two ways of achieving the same goal
You can write in you blog by navigating the following links:

Either
Create Content >> Blog Entry
or
My blog >> Post new blog entry

Main topic focus | Wii >> Nintendo >> Console >> Gaming | Sub focuses

That said, if you write it I'll probably publish it...but not on the homepage so be sure to contact me and I'll see what I can do

Also your blogs are somewhere you can always publish something random

If I start getting a lot of users requesting other platforms I will simply duplicate the infrastructure to other domains and build new admin teams. That way they get their own space.

Hey I'm all for freedom of speech. In fact I'm all for freedom full stop. Sometimes it's just more trouble than it's worth. Free flowing ideas, debate, progress. They all sound great to me.

If you're not an idiot, your freedom of speech will remain intact - Your opinions will not be edited or deleted
If you're an idiot then your post may have to be deleted. This action does not really apply to freedom of speech for various reasons:
1. This is a privately owned website (owned by myself) As such I reserve the right to choose what I publish.
2. More importantly, your right to freedom of speech hasn't been taken away from you. Go out in the streets and shout, get your own website (this one is built with Drupal which cost me nothing but time, sweat and tears), ring a friend. The freedom's still there!
3. Most of the time governments / authorities / society would be backing me on this, as most rules surround criminal activity.

Kudos is an old word but you can think of it as praise and recognition for your actions.
For more on kudos - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kudos
This website is all about creating a great community. To help monitor the value of people's contributions I will be implementing a kudos system. At present (230708) there is only the system that is my brain. This will all change as this current system is clearly not as reliable as a computer based system. Kudos will play a part in how I reward the members of the community. For those interested here's how that will work:

Negative kudos highlights your account for review so that core staff can decide whether to disable, delete, or delete and ban.

Positive kudos highlights your account for review so the site owner can decide whether or not you deserve a bigger cut of the Ad Revenue
